Niwa no Uguisu means nightingales of the garden. The brand is named this way to reflect the high quality water the Yamaguchi family uses to brew their products, so pure from which the nightingales drink. Today the family-owned brewery is run by its 11th generation. Their humble beginnings were as kimono merchants, and during the 5th generation of the Yamaguchi house did they decide to devote their busines entirely to brewing sake. Their values are to retain the traditions and voices of the past while imaging the meeting of feelings between the maker and drinker.
